APACI Overview

The Asia-Pacific Alliance for the Control of Influenza (and other respiratory diseases) was established as a charitable institution in April 2011.
It has an independent Board of Directors, and a membership consisting of individuals with a recognised expertise in influenza. APACI is a company limited by guarantee, with its registered office in Hong Kong, and its operational office in Melbourne, Australia.

APACI was previously known as the Asia-Pacific Advisory Committee on Influenza, having been established in early 2002. It has been active in the region since that time, but has moved beyond a committee, to an alliance of Asian-Pacific countries.

Management APACI Overview

John Ryan McLane (Chief Executive Officer) (New Zealand)

John has more than 25 years of experience in management and operations in the fields of epidemiology, public health, non-profit organisations and diplomacy. John joined APACI’s Management Team in 2025.

John is also a health care provider and holds a role with the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has previously worked with the WHO, Wellcome, and the University of Otago.

Marianne O’Reilly (Admin and Communications Manager) (Hong Kong)

Marianne has been at APACI since 2023, and has strong background in biotechnology, research, and science communication. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biotechnology, specialising in genetic engineering.

In her position, she oversees all APACI communications and event management efforts.

Marianne is also the Project Administration Manager for the Immunisation Coalition (IC), based in Melbourne, Australia. She manages communications and educational programs, develops medical content, and supports public health campaigns.
