2022 World Influenza Conference

2022 World Influenza Conference (WIC)

17-18 September 2022, Shenzhen, China

Influenza has always been a major global public health concern. At present, the COVID-19 pandemic is still at a very high level throughout the world, with and ongoing risk of imported cases from abroad. The continuous emergence of coronavirus variants brings more uncertainty to the evolution of the pandemic. In winter and spring, there is a risk of superimposed epidemics of COVID-19, influenza, and other infectious respiratory diseases, which will increase the complexity and difficulty of influenza prevention and control. How to explain the epidemiological characteristics of influenza in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and whether there is a possibility of a large-scale influenza outbreak or epidemic are issues that need to be urgently understood.

The purpose of this conference was to build the most advanced influenza prevention and control technology exchange and sharing platform, and to strengthen the cooperative research on influenza prevention and control strategies of various countries. At the same time, it is hoped that the global level of response to the dual pandemic of influenza and COVID-19 will be improved, with the public and professional institutions developing greater awareness of the risks associated with influenza, and the importance of prevention and control as a result of this Conference.

On September 17-18, the 2022 World Influenza Conference was held in Shenzhen, China. Experts and representatives from all over the world participated in this conference to discuss the world’s most advanced influenza prevention and control strategies.

The 2022WIC was co-hosted by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (CPMA), the Asia-Pacific Alliance for the Control of Influenza (APACI), China CDC and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), in collaboration with the European Scientific Working group on Influenza (ESWI), the National Adult and Influenza Immunization Summit (NAIIS), the International Society for Influenza and other Respiratory Virus Diseases (isirv), and the Middle Eastern, Eurasia and Africa Influenza Stakeholders Network (MENA-ISN).
